Practice Manager beverley.moore@nhs.netPractice Profile:
The surgery was named in 1999 following the retirement of Dr John Chesser, the last of 3 generations of Chesser GPs to have run the practice. Since 1999 the practice has evolved rapidly from computer-less to paper-less. The premises themselves have been completely re-furbished and extended. We have a highly committed, close-knit practice team with a very low staff turnover rate. All the partners are of the same (younger!) generation, 3 of whom have young families. We value the importance of the balance between our professional and personal lives. We are not generally involved in professional activities outside of our practice, other than participating in work for the out-of-hours GP co-operative. This allows us to focus on the needs of practice population (a large proportion of which are drawn from the deprived St.Helier Estate). We place huge importance on the safety and protection of each other and of our staff. We do operate a zero-tolerance policy in regard to violent or threatening behaviour. As a result the surgery has become a safer and more satisfying environment for doctors, staff and patients. Our aim is continue to offer and provide a high quality standard of holistic care to all our patients. Dr Cockbain is a new trainer whose lack of teaching experience is compensated for by his enthusiasm and his (reasonably!) fresh memories of his own VTS training. The VTS Registrar would be fully integrated into the practice team and invited to attend all practice and staff meetings. The surgery boasts its own large Registrars Consulting Room with an incorporated library. It is, in fact, the largest and best equipped room in the building! VTS meetings take place at St Helier Hospital, which lies only ½ mile up Wrythe Lane from the surgery.
