Practice Profile:
This Practice has been established in Mitcham since 1956, when Dr. Trevor Silver, former Regional Adviser in General Practice, lived and worked from 62 Manor Road, as a single-handed practitioner. Under his leadership and direction it developed into a 4-partner practice, which moved to our new premises in October 1998.
The Practice has been committed to GP-Training since the mid 70’s, before vocational training became compulsory in 1980. Dr. Jane Williams has been a Trainer since 1992. All partners are supportive of her role and are themselves involved in the teaching of undergraduate medical students based at St. George’s Medical School and Kings college. In October 2000 we also became involved in teaching students in the new Graduate entry program. The increase in our list size from 8.400 to 9,500 since October 1998 is evidence of our success and commitment to Primary Care. We value our staff who are enthusiastic and adopt change with drive and commitment. We encourage the professional and personal development of all members of the team. Multidisciplinary quarterly workshops are held for all members of the team, covering issues such as clinical Risk Management, Child Protection Awareness, and Managing Aggression. Separate meetings are held monthly with an educational content for clinical and non-clinical staff. Day to day issues are discussed at weekly practice meetings attended by clinical staff, Practice Manager and senior Receptionist. We feel these meetings enhance the personal and corporate development of the Practice, valuing everyone’s contributions and ideas Our Mission Statement is to provide evidence-based quality service to our patients. Together with our staff we are committed to effect the changes necessary to continue to provide first class primary care services in the 21 st century.Tamworth House Medical Centre April 2006
